The province of Kampot, from which we bring you Kampot pepper, is one of the most picturesque areas of Cambodia, which has managed to preserve its authentic face influenced not only by the Cambodians themselves, but also by the colonialists who worked here in the past centuries.
Kampot is a unique place to go if you want to experience the real Asia. Although it is a beautiful place, tourism hasn't changed it too much yet, so for a quite low cost you can enjoy a holiday you will never forget.
Why do we like Kampot so much?
As well as loving the ubiquitous green plantations, we have many favourite places we visit every year that are directly related to the Kampot pepper. What can such pepper tourism include?
You should definitely not miss Bokor National Park, where you will witness the beauty that only local nature can create. These are the mountains that on one side make a shadow of our very plantations and provide them with a cozy jungle-like refuge. If you go to these mountains, you will see the Popokvil waterfall in addition to the famous historical sites and beautiful old buildings. In this unique place you will blend not only with nature but also with the locals. It is a popular place for meditating monks and locals to refresh themselves during the sultry days.
Would you like to taste Kampot pepper like never before? Then we'd recommend the sea market in nearby Kep, where freshly caught prawns are served with fresh green Kampot pepper right on the stem and lightly grilled in a pan. A delicacy that we invite our friends to come here just to experience. The city itself is full of restaurants that specialize in cooking with pepper, as do cooking schools, or simply include it in the menu with absolute certainty.
P.S. Did you know that Kampot's unique climate and soil give a unique quality to more ingredients than just Kampot pepper? The local salt, for example, is one of the tastiest and healthiest we've ever had on a plate, but the local spices are also delicious.
