Frequently Asked Questions
How to use different types of peppercorns?
What makes the Kampot pepper unique is that each colour tastes completely different, so it is suitable for different types of dishes. It is therefore excellent for food pairing, where you can combine one or two types of pepper. Don't be afraid to experiment - in the end it's up to you which combination you like best! You can find the basic procedures for pairing different peppers on our blog: www.kampot.co.uk/news.
Do you also sell ground pepper or only whole pepperballs?
We only sell whole peppercorns so you can grind the pepper to your taste. If you want a sharp taste, grind finely, if you want to feel the true flavour of each pepper, choose a coarser grind - each result is fantastic! The reason we have whole pepper is because it is the only way to maintain 100% freshness, quality and taste just as if you were in Cambodia on one of our plantations.
Can you recommend any recipes?
Kampot pepper is used by the best Michelin chefs, but it can easily take any novice chef's food to a whole new level. Many tried and tested recipes can be found here: www.kampot.co.uk/recipes
Can I also use the grinders for salt or chili peppers?
The grinding mechanism can also grind coarse-grained salt. We do not recommend grinding chillies or other spices in it, as the grinder will clog. The same goes for our freeze-dried pepper (which is much softer and more brittle due to the salt content), which should be crushed in a mortar or use whole balls.
What are your butters and chocolates made of? Are they vegan? Do they contain lactose?
All our nut butters .pepper..nuts are LACTOSE FREE and also free of possible trace elements. Everything is lab tested, so they are suitable for people with strong intolerances💪🏼 Our .pepper..chocolate bitters are also lactose free, but may contain trace elements of milk in very rare cases (that is if you were extremely lactose sensitive). The white and milk ones contain lactose 😊 All of these products are organic and use only natural ingredients and real ingredients.
Do you do engraving on the grinder as well?
We do not engrave on grinders yet. We only engrave on the lids of gift boxes.
What should I have engraved on the lid?
It's up to you really. You can choose, for example, the name or nickname of the recipient, a specific date, or a short message, quote, dedication, etc. However, in general, we recommend - the more concise, the nicer.
Why is .pepper..field pepper the best?
Kampot pepper has been awarded the exceptional PGI - Protected Geographical Indication - certification, which declares that the area in Kampot, Cambodia is the best for growing pepper worldwide. It is therefore the same as other protected products such as genuine Champagne.
How does pepper grow?
Local farmers tend their pepper plantations as they have for hundreds of years by generations before them. They grow it without the use of chemicals, using only natural and sustainable practices, fertilizing the plants with only natural fertilizers, and harvesting and processing the pepper exclusively by hand to guarantee the perfection of each peppercorn in a quality that is recognized and certified as organic. Each peppercorn passes through the hands of the farmer several times. The first time is during the harvest itself, when each peppercorn is examined for its maturity. The moment the grain is ready to be harvested, it goes to the drying process, which is carried out by the Cambodian sun's rays. Each grain is then manually inspected again and exported only if it passes a series of strict criteria.
As a result, Cambodian beans are of exceptional quality, and it is not for nothing that they have earned the nickname 'the champagne of peppers'. The sun's rays, the nutrient-rich soil and the responsible care of the farmers are the reasons why the quality of Kampot pepper is absolutely incomparable to that of the classic pepper offered by supermarket chains.
Will the small tubes fit in the stand?
The stand is only designed for large tubes (75g), small tubes would fall out and risk breaking. We don't have a stand for small tubes yet.

"First time I tasted Kampot pepper on our vacation in Cambodia, it was phenomenal! I am ordering the Kampot pepper from Amazon ever since. Now when I have an option to order from the smallest farmers, I can have great feeling whenever I open the pack as a bonus to the best taste."

"Got the pepper, it is very unique. I found it had more flavor and the aroma was wonderful. The pepper came in a small well sealed package. The ground pepper was a little spicier than regular black pepper, but not too spicy. I think it was most likely just fresher and delivered in better condition."
